After out in the Midlands folk club circuit in the 1970s, the Birmingham-born entertainer's observational humour and story-telling style meant television soon beckoned, resulting in award-winning stand-up satirical shows Carrott's Lib and Carrot's Commercial Breakdown and sitcom The Detectives.
