Celebrity Race Across the World star Molly Rainford has reflected on her Britain’s Got Talent stint during the BBC show.

Molly, 24, is best known for starring as Anna Knight in EastEnders, but she began her career when she was just a child.

Tonight’s episode of Celebrity Race Across the World will see Molly and her partner Tyler West embark on the journey of a lifetime.

Together with three other celebrities and their loved ones, they begin their race in Mexico. Stripped of their phones and on a basic budget, the pairs have to navigate across the country to the first check point in the new series.

Celebrity Race Across the World: Molly and Tyler

Molly and Tyler, 29, will take on a job hand-picking Habanero chilli. They will receive free bed and board in exchange for their hard work.

While in the field, Molly tells Tyler: “I like it here, it is really peaceful.” Tyler replies: “At home, it feels like we are always on.” Molly agrees, saying: “Yeah, 100 miles an hour.”

Reflecting on her career, Molly tells the camera: “When I first jumped into this industry, I was told to get social media. ‘You need to jump on this’. I feel like now it’s just become part of the job and part of life.

“We’ve navigated a lot of our relationship with all eyes on us. There’s not many times that we’ve been without social media.”

Back in the chilli field, she tells Tyler: “I feel like this is the first time I’ve done a job that is considered normal. I started working when I was 11  and was gigging every weekend.

“I was sitting my Year 6 SATs and I was on the final of Britain’s Got Talent the night before.”

When was Molly Rainford on Britain’s Got Talent?

Molly appeared in Britain’s Got Talent in 2012. She auditioned for the show in front of a massive audience and with her mum waiting in the wings.

When asked to tell him about herself, Molly said to Simon Cowell: “I go to church on Sundays with my nan.” He replied: “Good girl, we’re going to get on great, you and I.”

Molly seriously impressed Simon and fellow judges, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Carman Electra, with her powerful voice. They were wowed by her vocals as she belted out a rendition of One Night Only.

Once finished, David joked: “I just worry that you’re too old!!” But he added: “You’re kind of faultless.”  Simon said: “I’ve got to tell you Molly, I like you because you’ve got soul. I really do believe that.”

Molly also impressed the viewers at home and she sailed all the way through to the live final. But sadly, she didn’t win. The winners of Britain’s Got Talent 2012 were Ashleigh and Pudsey – aka Ashleigh Butler and her dog Pudsey.

What else has Molly been in?

Britain’s Got Talent isn’t the only Saturday night TV show Molly has been in. In 2022, she took part in Strictly Come Dancing. At the time, Molly was best known for playing the title role in children’s show Nova Jones.

Molly was partnered with Carlos Gu on the BBC show. Again, she made it to the final. But although Molly lost out to Hamza Yassin, she did gain something significant; Tyler!

Tyler also appeared in the same series of Strictly Come Dancing. He was partnered with Dianne Buswell and eliminated in Week 7. Seven weeks was enough time to fall for Molly, though!

Molly joined the cast of EastEnders three months after the Strictly final.
