Emmerdale has lined up another huge name for a cameo in the show, soap legend Jason Donovan and they’ve just released the first picture of his stint.

Jason is best known for his hugely popular role in Neigbours. But this time, he is headed for the Dales.

At the moment, fans have been feeling that Emmerdale has too much focus on the darker storylines. So, Jason’s appearance is sure to put a pause on all of that.

Fans ‘glad’ that Jason is featuring in Emmerdale

Taking to a Reddit thread, Emmerdale fans had their say on whether or not Jason Donovan would fit in. And the consensus seems to be that his cameo is a genius idea.

One fan wrote: “I’m quite excited to see how this will play out on screen.”

Another was grateful for the break in darker themed storylines. They commented: “People have been saying they want more lighthearted and fun storylines. This sounds like a lovely break from the darkness. Just what we need in the build-up to Christmas.”

A third agreed: “No way! Oh my days! Jason Donovan is a legend and known to soap fans. What a coup for the producers to sign him up.”

What will Jason’s storyline be?

Filming has taken place on the Emmerdale set in Leeds, when Jason performed one of his classic hits to a packed out Woolpack as a surprise for Lydia Dingle, played by Karen Blick.

As first reported in The Sun, Lydia is a massive fan of the singer and misses a concert of his. So the locals band together to make her dream come true in the pub!

Jason said: “I’m incredibly excited to have been asked to make a cameo appearance in Emmerdale as myself.  Filming was great fun and all of the cast and crew were extremely welcoming. Singing in the Woolpack set was definitely an experience I won’t forget.”

Emmerdale producer, Laura Shaw, said: “We were delighted that Jason agreed to join us for this episode. Not only is Lydia Dingle a big fan of his, there was a real buzz on set that day. I hope the viewers enjoy his cameo as much as the Emmerdale family did.”
