Harry Rutter | 12:48pm Thu 18 Sep | Updated 12:49pm Thu 18 SepPaddy McGuinness is reuniting with his celebrity pal Vernon Kay to host this year’s BBC Children in Need.
Comedian Paddy and BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon, who have collectively raised more than £13million for Children in Need, will be at the show’s helm this autumn.
Paddy, 52, admitted he couldn’t “possibly say no” to hosting the live appeal programme.
Paddy explained: “There’s something truly powerful about the UK coming together – united in compassion and determination – to make a real difference for children who need us most.
“Every child deserves someone who shows up for them. I’m proud to play my part in helping make that happen. I know supporters up and down the country will be doing the same and I can’t wait to see what they take on.”
Vernon, who’s returning to hosting CiN for his second year, said he is “chuffed” to be back.
The 51-year-old added: “Every time I get involved, I’m blown away by how generous and creative people are right across the UK. It’s all about coming together, having a laugh, and raising money that genuinely changes lives. I’m proud to do my bit.”
There’s no doubt these two will be a dream double act for Children in Need!
BBC Children in Need 2025: Paddy McGuinness
Paddy McGuinness is no stranger to raising money for Children in Need. Last year, he completed a gruelling 300-mile ultra-endurance cycle for the charity. Paddy peddled across Wales, England and into Scotland and it left him with blisters and painful knees.
It took five days for Paddy to complete his cycle challenge. But it was worth it. Paddy was left in tears as he learned he had raised more than £8million for Children in Need.
Fans will remember how he rose to fame in the early 2000s alongside his pal and fellow funnyman Peter Kay. The pair starred together in hit sitcoms Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere.
Paddy is also known for hosting ITV2 dating show Take Me Out, as well as BBC‘s Top Gear from 2019 to 2022. He has three children with his ex-wife, Christine.

Vernon Kay: Who is he?
Children in Need is also very close to Vernon Kay’s heart. In 2023, he completed epic Ultra Ultramarathon Challenge for the charity.
He ran from Leicester’s Victoria Park to his hometown, finishing at Bolton Wanderers’ football stadium. It took him four days to run a total of 116 miles, raising more than £5million for the charity.
“I’m absolutely exhausted, absolutely spent, physically, mentally,” he said after crossing the finish line. “Is there anyone here who can replace a knee?”
Vernon, who shares two daughters with his Strictly Come Dancing star wife Tess Daly, started his career as a model before moving into TV. He rose to fame presenting Channel 4‘s T4 between 2000 and 2005.
Vernon has since hosted ITV‘s Family Fortunes, Splash! and the game show 1000 Heartbeats. He also starred in the 2020 series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!.
Vernon hosted his own show on BBC Radio 1 from 2004 to 2012. In May 2023, the BBC announced he would be the new mid-morning DJ on Radio 2. Vernon took over from Ken Bruce.
