What to watch on TV tonight: The last ever Grand Tour special, plus Gogglebox returns
By Susan Brett | Fri Sep 13 2024It's the end of the road for Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May in the last ever Grand Tour. Gogglebox, on the other hand, premieres its 24th series tonight.
Gogglebox
C4, 9pm
Now in its 24th series, the TV series where people watch people watching TV is still going strong. This is the original version with members of the public, not the celebrity edition that aired in June. The formula just works: interesting personalities, big banter, and the same shows we’ve endured the past week. In tonight's episode, the armchair critics will watch Slow Horses, Celebrity Race Across the World, Dating Naked, The Teacher, 90 Day Fiancé and Police Interceptors. They'll also give their two cents on new Prime Minister Kier Starmer and the stranded Boeing Starliner astronauts.
Celebrity Masterchef
BBC One, 9pm
It’s the final semifinal and everybody wants to make the cut. Only five celebrities can take part in Finals Week, so the remaining contestants need to go all out to impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace, plus guest Grace Dent, with their culinary inventions. Tonight’s episode is drool-worthy: Grace Dent wants luxury from the celebrities, a completely indulgent treat for the tongue. This means meals involving tomahawk steak and chocolate fondant are all on the table.
In Vogue: The 90s (Part One)
Disney+
The first part of a new docuseries that offers a nostalgic look back on the iconic decade that brought us heroin chic, skinny eyebrows, and pedal pushers. An A-list cast of ‘90s icons, including Vogue's Anna Wintour, celebrities including Naomi Campbell, Marc Jacobs, Missy Elliott and Claudia Schiffer offer their insights on what made the 1990s such a memorable decade for fashion and pop culture. Part two premieres September 20.
The Grand Tour
Prime Video
Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May come together one last time for this special in Zimbabwe. From the Beeb to streaming giants Amazon, the trio have worked together on motoring projects for 22 years. For tonight's road trip, they opt for a 1982 Lancia Montecarlo, a 1974 Ford Capri 3-litre and a 1974 Triumph Stag. As always, it's a messy, fun-fuelled affair: full of dangerous driving, friend-on-friend sabotage, and dodgy engineering ‘fixes’. For the first time, it's goodbye, and this seems to give the hosts a fresh lease of life.
