Deal or No Deal continued today – but poor Chantel didn’t get the trip to Barbados that she hoped for after knocking out all the big reds early in the game.

Today’s game (November 6) saw Chantel step up to attempt to beat The Banker. However, if you thought she looked familiar, then that’s because you may have seen her somewhere before…

Chantel on Deal or No Deal

Chantel explained to host Stephen Mulhern that she used to be in a girl band called Fierce. She told how they had supported Whitney Houston on tour. And recalled the time she performed on Top of the Pops and at Party in the Park to more than 100,000 people.

Fierce were an R&B girl group who had four hit singles between 1999 and 2000. The biggest of the hits, Sweet Love 2K, is a cover of the Anita Baker song Sweet Love.

After Fierce, Chantel hung up her mic and now works as an office manager for a tech company. She joked as she told Stephen that she’s also the official office DJ.

However, not everyone was as receptive to her story as the game show host…

New series of Deal or No Deal sparks backlash

Today’s show sparked pleas for a format shake-up from regular viewers. They pointed out the amount of time host Stephen and the day’s contestant spent chatting before getting down to the gameplay, and called for it to stop.

“Oh FFS. Just open the box,” said one. “Stop chatting [bleep] and get on with it,” said another. “Gurgh this inane patter from Mulhern is really grating. Get on with it,” said another. “It takes 15 minutes to actually start the game!!” another added.

How much did Chantel win today?

Chantel shared her hopes of treating her dad to a trip to Barbados if she won big on the show today. However, her game was a disaster, with the big reds falling one after the other. She even admitted: “If I could play my game again, I would play my favourite numbers first.”

She accepted The Banker’s offer of £1,050 after taking out the £100k box and leaving £2k as the biggest box on her board. If she would’ve played on and stuck with her box, Chantel would’ve left with just £250.
