Death in Paradise series 14: Adam James and Bhavna Limbachia guest star in episode 2 of detective drama
By Helen Fear | Fri Feb 07 2025Death in Paradise series 14 continues with a great 'TV show within a TV show' plot and a guest cast including the ever-reliable Adam James and former soap star Bhavna Limbachia.
In this week's episode 2, DI Mervin Wilson and the team must investigate when a game show contestant is stabbed during filming of the series' grand finale. In a baffling turn of events, the victim is murdered in mid-air whilst hurtling down a zip line. Well, there are worse ways to go!
Naturally, various members of the TV crew come under suspicion... Meanwhile, Mervin surprises his colleagues by signing a contract to prolong his stay on Saint Marie as he attempts to find out the truth about his late mum.
So who guest stars in the cast of Death in Paradise series 14 episode 2? Here's everything you need to know...
Adam James plays Rick Mayhew in the cast of Death in Paradise
London-born Adam James, 52, portrays Island Warrior producer Rick Mayhew in episode 2 of Death in Paradise. And he's one of the most recognisable guest stars of the entire series.
Adam has been on our screens since 1996, when his very first TV appearance saw him playing Cpt. Philip Carline in Sharpe, opposite This City is Ours star Sean Bean.
He quickly made a name for himself, portraying Ross Grant in teenage drama Island, and Cleveland O. Petty in the brilliant Band of Brothers. In 2005, he won arguably his most significant TV role until that point. He joined the cast of Casualty as Pete Guildford.
Roles continued in TV series such as Judge John Deed, Waking the Dead, Ashes to Ashes, Extras, Doctor Who, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, and Silent Witness.
But it was his 2015 role as Neil Baker in the ITV thriller Doctor Foster that really made him a household name. He played the cheating husband in both series of the drama until 2017. He briefly reprised the role in the spin-off Life, opposite The Crow Girl actress Victoria Hamilton.
Adam hasn't been off our screens since, and subsequently played Robert Dillon in Home from Home, Adam McKay in Deep State, John Bellasis in Belgravia, Julian in I May Destroy You, and Mr Pryor in The Harrowing.
In 2021, he played Prentice in Vigil, alongside former Doctor Foster and Frauds actress Suranne Jones, before going on to star as Dr Gerald 'Jack' Owens in ITV thriller The Suspect.
Adam seems to have been in everything recently, often playing questionable characters. In the past few years, he's played significant roles in Treason, Netflix thriller You, The Long Shadow, The Couple Next Door, Hotel Portofino, The Day of the Jackal, Dalgliesh, and The Buccaneers.
Bhavna Limbachia stars as Chaz Simons
Lancashire-born Bhavna Limbachia, 40, joins the cast of Death in Paradise series 14 as Island Warrior contestant Chaz Simons.
But, of course, Coronation Street fans will know Bhavna as Rana Habeeb/Nazir, a role she played between 2016 and 2019. The character was most famous for her romance with Kate Connor, who she was set to marry.
Rana tragically died when she was crushed in the factory collapse on her wedding day.
Before her life-changing soap role, actress Bhavna was probably most famous for portraying PC Misha Baig in Cuffs, and Alia Khan in Citizen Khan.
Since leaving Corrie, Bhavna has played Meena in the cast of Sky comedy Brassic, and Geri Farman in Adrian Dunbar detective drama Ridley. Other notable roles include Jo in Inside No.9, Nicola in Pramface, and Suraya Afzal in Casualty.
David Avery portrays Dale Buckingham
Birmingham-born David Avery, 38, also guest stars in the cast of Death in Paradise series 14.
He's probably most famous for playing Anthony in Gangs of London, or Abdullah in We Are Lady Parts. He's also known for his role of Tariq in Borderline, and Xanthius in Troy: Fall of a City.
The actor has been on our screens since 2009, when he first popped up as a soldier in the short film No Way Through. At the time, he was using the name David Chrysanthou.
He went on to play Flex in the TV series Sofia's Diary, Pete Walsh in Missing, and Fabian in Doctor Who. Between 2012 and 2014, he portrayed Marcus Graham in Brothers with No Game, before going on to play Donny in 24: Live Another Day, and Theo in Kosmos.
Other notable roles include Freddie Hamid in The Night Manager, Kingsley Jackson in The Dumping Ground, Nico Kolovas-Jones in Strike - The Cuckoo's Calling, Officer John Brown in Liar, and DSU Jake Harper in Bancroft.
More recently, he's starred as Bambos in the comedy Stath Lets Flats, Stephen Mannion in Hanna, Charlie Drummond in Liaison, and Domitius in Domina.
Simon Lennon plays victim Jonny Feldon in the cast of Death in Paradise
Actor Simon Lennon plays game show contestant Jonny Feldon, who is stabbed during the Island Warrior competition.
Simon is best known for playing Private Brains in Our Girl between 2013 and 2018. The character was known for being the clever one in 2 Section.
Between 2020 and 2021, he portrayed Ben Tucker in Emmerdale. Ben was the boyfriend of Aaron Dingle, and the fifth known murder victim of serial killer Meena Jutla. So dying on screen isn't new to Simon!
Other notable roles include Jimmy in the film Boys on Film 22: Love to Love You.
Sofia Oxenham is Lisa Bulmer
French-born Sofia Oxenham, 31, guest stars as Island Warrior contestant Lisa Bulmer.
She's probably best known for portraying Carrie in the superhero comedy Extraordinary, a role she played between 2023 and 2024, or Tess Tregidden in Poldark.
Sofia also starred as Princess Eugenie in A Very Royal Scandal in 2024, which recreated the now infamous Prince Andrew interview with Emily Maitlis.
Other roles include Lottie in Grantchester, Ally in Doc Martin, Sam in Dracula, Eydis in Cursed, and Hannah in Soulmates.
Shaquille Ali-Yebuah stars as Sebastian Rose
London-born Shaquille Ali-Yebuah joins the cast as Sebastian Rose. The actor, 29, is perhaps best known for playing Perry in the 2016 mystery drama Dixi.
In 2019, he starred as Danny in Amazon Original The Feed, before going on to play Benji Achebe in The F1rst Team.
He's also known for playing Karl in I Hate You, Derrin Vaughan in FBI: International, Gavin in You, Me and the Apocalypse, and Dominic in Save Me. His film roles include Kid 2 in Legacy, Marc in Social Suicide, Cass in iBoy, and he even played an Imperial Mudtrooper in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
