Pointless host Alexander Armstrong is set to be joined on the game show by six new celebrity guest presenters.

Stars including Tom Allen, Judi Love and Angela Rippon are among the brand new line-up of co-hosts for the next series.

The famous faces will be sitting in the hot seat alongside Alexander when filming for the new series gets underway.

Alexander, 55, says: “I am over the moon knowing I get to work with such brilliant co-hosts. I cannot wait to get going and have them all keep me, and the contestants, fantastically on our toes.”

Here are all the celebrities who we can expect to see when the new series of Pointless kicks off.

Pointless celebrity hosts: Comedian Tom Allen

Actor and comedian Tom Allen is one of the six new celebrity co-hosts coming to Pointless. He is thrilled to be taking part in the BBC One show, especially as he has a burning question he’d like answered.

Tom, 42, says: “I can’t wait to find out how they move the contestants off the steps so quickly!”

Tom is fast becoming one of the UK’s best loved comedy stars and presenters. He made his break into comedy in 2005 after winning both the BBC New Comedy Award and stand-up competition, So You Think You’re Funny?.

These days, he is known for hosting The Apprentice‘s spin-off show, You’re Fired. Tom has also co-hosted Bake Off: The Professionals and The Great Christmas Bake Off on Channel 4. He has his own Sunday afternoon show on Virgin Radio.

Judi Love: Comedian

Bringing more laughs to the Pointless studio is Judi Love. The comedian is a big fan of the BBC game show and is very excited to be taking part as a co-host!

Judi, 45, admits: “I am so excited to be hosting with Alexander Armstrong. It’s such a fun show full of crazy facts and a lot of laughter. I’ve watched Pointless so many times (and even come up as a question!), so to be sitting in the famous sidekick seat is brilliant!”

Loose Women fans will know Judi as one of the ITV daytime show’s panelists. She previously worked in social care before moving into comedy in 2011.

Judi has appeared on Celebrity MasterChef and Taskmaster. She took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2021 and finished in 10th place.

Angela Rippon: Broadcaster

This is the second time Angela Rippon will have appeared on Pointless. But previously, she was a contestant on spin-off edition, Celebrity Pointless.

The 80-year-old broadcaster said: “What a great gig! Sitting in the Hot Seat on Pointless and working with Alexander Armstrong. That’s a TV double whammy. And having appeared on the programme as a contestant, it’s good to know that this time I won’t have to wrack my brain for the answers – because they will all be written down for me! I can’t wait.”

Angela began her career as a local newsreader before moving to the BBC’s Nine O’Clock News in 1975. Her CV is impressive, having hosted shows including Come Dancing (Strictly’s predecessor), TV-AM and The Big Breakfast.

Last year, Angela stepped away from BBC consumer show Rip Off Britain. She had co-hosted it for six years alongside Gloria Hunniford and Julia Somerville.

Angela is probably most (recently) famous for being impressively bendy on the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing. She’s also penned 14 books.

Gethin Jones: Presenter

Like Tom Allen, TV presenter Gethin Jones will be arriving on the Pointless set determined to find out the show’s secrets.

Speaking about his signing as a Pointless co-host, Gethin gushes: “It’s become one of the most famous chairs on television, and I’ve ALWAYS wanted to know what is actually on that laptop!

“It’s the perfect scenario, playing along but knowing all the answers… or least the best of the right answers! I will be excellent at Welsh pronunciations; Alexander will have the rest covered.”

Gethin, 47, started his career in children’s television. In 2005, he became the 31st presenter of Blue Peter. Gethin has since hosted BBC’s The One Show and ITV’s 71 Degrees North and This Morning. He is currently a presenter on BBC One’s Morning Live.

Trevor Nelson: DJ

Trevor Nelson couldn’t be more suited to co-hosting Pointless because, in 2014, he won Celebrity Pointless.

Remaining humble about his invite back to the show, Trevor says: “As a former Pointless champion, I’ve had the pleasure of competing on one of my favourite quiz shows. So, when I was given the opportunity to step onto the other side of the questions, I was pleasantly surprised. I have a fond appreciation for the team, and I hope I do the role justice.”

Trevor, 61, began DJ’ing in the 1980s and was Cooltempo/ EMI’s club promotor. He quickly turned his hand to radio and was presenting BBC Radio 1’s first R’n’B chart show by 1996.

Now one of the UK’s best-loved radio DJs, Trevor hosts the weekday afternoon show on BBC Radio 2.

Pointless celebrity hosts: Presenter Angela Scanlon

Angela Scanlon is bravely returning to a TV game show after being left seriously red-faced on an episode of Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel.

In 2022, Angela appeared on the show as an expert on red-heads. But what she is most remembered for is losing £10,000 after saying Mr Tumble was one of the Mr Men.

Angela Scanlon admits: “This will be the first time in the history of any game that I, Angela Scanlon, will know all the answers. Actually, it’ll be the first time I know any of the answers.

“Prior to doing Pointless I asked my agent to make me sign a document to swear I would never agree to appear on a public gameshow again; it was after the Mr Tumble incident but perhaps this will help us all forget.”

Angela made her break into television on Irish network RTÉ. In 2016, she landed her first job with the BBC as a reporter for The One Show. She hosted BBC Two’s Robot Wars for two years and now presents the weekend morning show on Virgin Radio.

Angela appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2023, finishing in sixth place.
