Will there be a Monster series 3 on Netflix?

Who plays Ed Gein in Monsters series 3 on Netflix?

The actor is known for his breakthrough role as Nathan Maloney in Queer as Folk in 1999.

He swapped his home town of Newcastle for the US when he won the role of Jackson 'Jax' Teller in seven seasons of Sons of Anarchy.

Who is Ed Gein? What did he do?

Ed Gein, the subject of Monster series 3, was an American serial killer, also known as the Butcher of Plainfield or the Plainfield Ghoul.

He committed his crimes around his hometown of Plainfield, Wisconsin. Authorities discovered that he had exhumed corpses from local graveyards and "fashioned keepsakes from their bones and skin".

He also confessed to killing two women. At first, Ed was found unfit to stand trial and placed in a mental health facility. However, by 1968, he was judged competent to stand trial.

A court found him guilty of the murder of hardware store owner Bernice Worden. He was found legally insane and remanded to a psychiatric institution, where he died in 1984, aged 77.

Was Ed Gein the inspiration for Silence of the Lambs?

Before he was captured and after the death of his mother, Ed Gein had began to create a "woman suit". He wished to "become his mother - to literally crawl into her skin".

He subsequently became the inspiration for several fictional serial killers, most notably Norman Bates in Psycho, Leatherface in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs.
