


Agatha Christie's Towards Zero: Incredible cast list includes Anjelica Huston, Matthew Rhys and Oliver Jackson-Cohen
By Helen Fear | Fri Feb 28 2025Agatha Christie's Towards Zero is the latest of her novels to be adapted by the BBC, and you have every reason to expect good things with legendary American actress Anjelica Huston leading the cast.
The drama, set in 1936 England, centres on "an explosive love triangle, a formidable matriarch and a deadly web of jealousy and deceit".
The incredible cast includes Welsh actor Matthew Rhys, Wilderness star Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and The Wire's Clarke Peters.

Towards Zero cast: Anjelica Huston stars as Lady Tressilian
Film legend Anjelica Huston, 73, portrays Lady Tressilian in the cast of Agatha Christie's Towards Zero on BBC One. The character lives on the coastal estate where much of the action happens.
Of course, Los Angeles-born Anjelica - part of a very famous family - is known for playing the Grand High Witch in the 1990 film The Witches, Morticia Addams in The Addams Family movie, and Lilly Dillon in The Grifters. But she's been in multiple films over her career.
As well as producing and directing, Anjelica has been on our screens ever since 1969 when, as a teenager, she appeared in her director dad John Huston's film A Walk with Love and Death.
Over her more than 50-year film career, she has won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award, as well as receiving multiple nominations. On TV, she's appeared as Eileen Rand in Smash, Eileen Rand in Medium - opposite Severance actress Patricia Arquette - and Vicki in Transparent.
Anjelica Huston said of the role: "I have long been a fan of Agatha Christie and the murder-mystery genre and always love the opportunity to film in England. I am thrilled to be working with director Sam Yates and this wonderful cast, and excited to play the clever and dignified Camilla, Lady Tressilian."

Oliver Jackson-Cohen plays Nevile Strange
British actor Oliver Jackson-Cohen, 38, portrays British tennis star Nevile Strange.
In episode one, Nevile and his ex-wife Audrey make the controversial decision to spend a summer together - after their scandalous celebrity divorce. They head to Gull's Point, their childhood home, and the coastal estate of Nevile's aunt, Lady Tressilian. Oh, one small matter we didn't mention, Nevile's new wife Kay is also there!
Netflix viewers probably actor and model Oliver best for playing Peter in The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Luke in The Haunting of Hill House.
London-born Oliver is also known for playing Phillip White in Lark Rise to Candleford, Prince William in the 2011 TV series Will & Kate: Before Happily Ever After, and Ralph in World Without End.
Other notable roles include Roddy in Mr Selfridge, Jonathan Harker in Dracula, James, Duke of York in The Great Fire, and Lucas in Emerald City.
In 2023, Oliver portrayed Will in the Amazon Original thriller series, Wilderness, opposite Jenna Coleman. More recently, he's played James in Surface series 1 and 2.
He’s popped up in some acclaimed films, too. He starred as Toni in The Lost Daughter, William Weightman in Emily, and Adrian Griffin in The Invisible Man.

Matthew Rhys portrays Inspector Leach
Welsh actor Matthew Rhys, 50, stars as the troubled Inspector Leach. He must "rediscover his purpose to untangle a toxic web of jealousy, deceit and dysfunction". Can he solve the crime before another victim meets their death?
Matthew is best known for playing Philip Jennings in The Americans, Perry Mason in the detective drama of the same name, and Kevin Walker in Brothers & Sisters.
He's been on our screens since 1997, when he was in his early twenties. That year, he played Boyo in the film House of America, and PC Steve Higson in the TV series Backup.
He went on to portray Matthew Bishop in Metropolis, Fitzwilliam Darcy in the adaptation of Death Comes to Pemberley opposite Ludwig's Anna Maxwell Martin, and Billy Winters in Death and Nightingales.
He's been in multiple films, including Cocaine Bear, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, The Post, and Whatever Happened to Harold Smith?

Agatha Christie's Towards Zero cast: Ella Lily Hyland stars as Audrey Strange
Irish actress Ella Lily Hyland, 25, portrays Nevile Strange's ex-wife Audrey. She's probably most famous for portraying Justine Pearce in the elite tennis series Fifteen-Love in 2022, opposite Rivals actor Aidan Turner.
More recently, she starred as assassin Williams in the cast of Black Doves on Netflix.
Other notable roles include Marianne Goodson in Disney's A Thousand Blows opposite Stephen Graham, Lisa in Storyland, and Mia in Channel 5 thriller Intruder.
Ella has also appeared in multiple films, including Songs of Blood and Destiny, Silent Roar, and Five and a Half Love Stories in an Apartment in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Mimi Keene stars as Nevile's new wife Kay Elliot
London-born Mimi Keene, 26, stars as Nevile's new wife Kay Strange. The actress came to fame playing Cindy Williams in EastEnders between 2013 and 2015.
The character has actually been played by four actresses since being introduced in 1998. Cindy is the daughter of Cindy Beale and Nick Holland, although her mother's ex husband Ian Beale fostered her.
After leaving the BBC soap, Mimi went on to play Ruby Matthews in Sex Education between 2019 and 2023.
As well as popping up as Lana Westmore in one episode of Casualty in 2016, other notable roles include Brandy May Lou in Sadie J, Jade Dawes in the TV movie Our Girl, and a young Edith Bratt in the 2019 film Tolkien.
More recently, she portrayed Nathalie in the film After Everything, a sequel to After, After We Fell, After We Collided, and After Ever Happy.

Anjana Vasan plays Mary Aldin
Indian-born actress Anjana Vasan, 8, stars as Mary Aldin in the cast of Agatha Christie's Towards Zero on BBC One.
She is perhaps most famous for playing Amina in the Channel 4 sitcom We Are Lady Parts between 2021 and 2024, alongside Vera's Sarah Kameela Impey. Anjana was nominated for a British Academy Television Award for the role.
The actress is also known for paying Pam in Killing Eve, and Lauren in Fresh Meat - which was her very first TV role in 2011.
Anjana is also known for playing Tripti Valluk in one episode of Call the Midwife in 2016, Shazia in Ill Behaviour, Zahra Alsaadi in Hang Ups, and Katie in Temple. She's been in several films, too, including Wicked Little Letters, Cyrano, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and The Children Act.

Agatha Christie's Towards Zero cast: Clarke Peters stars as Mr Treves
New York-born Clarke Peters, 72, portrays Mr Treves in the cast of Agatha Christie's Towards Zero. Although he's American, he's spent much of his adult life living in the UK.
Clarke is undoubtedly most famous for playing Baltimore police detective Lester Freamon in the critically-acclaimed TV series The Wire. He played the role in all five series, between 2002 and 2008.
The actor is also known for portraying Albert Lambreaux in the television series Treme between 2010 and 2013.
Veteran actor Clarke has been on our screens for nearly 50 years, ever since he played Laurie in the 1979 film The Music Machine. However, he first hit the stage in West End theatre musical roles.
He went on to play Gabriel Huysman in Channel 5 soap Night & Day, Captain Bellow in Life on Mars, Dave Pell in Damages, and Derek Newman in Holby City.
Other notable roles include Alonzo Quinn in Person of Interest, Isaiah Page in The Divide, Det. Oscar Clemons in Jessica Jones, Ralph Coates in Jericho, and Carl in Chance.

Jack Farthing stars as Thomas Royde
London-born actor Jack Farthing, 39, portrays Thomas Royde in the cast of Agatha Christie's Towards Zero on BBC One.
He's most famous for portraying George Warleggan in period drama Poldark, a role he played between 2015 and 2019.
Since then, he's starred as Richard in the thriller Chloe, Selby in comedy drama Rain Dogs opposite Daisy May Cooper, and Tom in The Serial Killer's Wife.
His other notable roles include John Lennon in Sheridan Smith-led Cilla, Freddie Threepwood in Blandings, and Patrick Telford in Silk.
Aficionados of Agatha Christie TV adaptations might also remember Jack for playing Donald Fraser in The ABC Murders. The three-part BBC series starred John Malkovich as Hercule Poirot. Jack also played Gerald Paynter in series 13 of Poirot (episode The Big Four) in 2013 starring David Suchet.

Jackie Clune as Miss Barrett
Essex-born Jackie Clune, 59, portrays staff Miss Barrett. Motherland fans will know the actress for playing the totally underrated character of Mrs Lamb in all three series of the comedy drama.
The actress, comedian, singer and writer recently reunited with her Motherland co-star Diane Morgan in Mandy. Jackie is also famous for playing Proctor in spoof documentary series Borderline.
After playing EastEnders' Sue Williams in 1999, comedian Jackie went on to play Elaine Morrison in Waking the Dead, DS Elizabeth Marsh in The Bill, Jillian Menzies in Three Girls, and Leah Worthington in Too Close.
Who else stars in the cast of Agatha Christie's Towards Zero?
Khalil Gharbia stars as Louis Morel. Actor Khalil - sometimes credited as Khalil Ben Gharbia - is a 24-year-old French actor.
He's best known for playing Ismaël in The 7 Lives of Lea, Bilal Cherif in Skam France, and Joe in the film The Lost Boys. More recently, he played Jean in one episode of period drama Mary & George.
Grace Doherty portrays Sylvia. She's a relative newcomer, who has previously played Alison Casey in one episode of Call the Midwife, and Olivia Cranham in four episodes of Casualty.
Adam Hugill stars as Mac in the cast of Agatha Christie's Towards Zero. He's previously played Scott Rowley in the cast of Sherwood on BBC One. Adam also portrayed Constable Carrot Ironfoundersson in The Watch.
